Internationale meetcampagne Zandmotor van start

Van 15 september tot en met 27 oktober vindt rondom de Zandmotor een grote meetcampagne plaats met internationale onderzoekers vanuit allerlei disciplines, onder de noemer MegaPEX2014. Gedurende die zes weken wordt de standaard aanwezige meetapparatuur uitgebreid met veel extra materieel. In totaal worden meer dan twintig verschillende meetopstellingen gerealiseerd die het gedrag van de Zandmotor op kleine en grote schaal vastleggen, waaronder de stroming, verspreiding van zand, en de aanwezige flora en fauna.

En palen met kabels eraan, vond het ook vreemd toen ik daar aan het varen was afgelopen zondag, maar nu weet je waarom dus pas op!

'Hi all,

Delft University of Technology organised in cooperation with several universities and research institutes a measurement campaign at the Sand Motor from September 15th until November 2nd called MegaPeX. For this campaign we installed several instruments in the shallow water areas surrounding the Sand Motor.

These instruments are attached to poles jetted into the soil. These poles may be just below the water level depending on the tide. All instruments are marked using yellow or orange buoys and/or flexible poles. Please keep a safe distance from these areas.

The map attached shows the approximate locations of all instruments in shallow waters. The red areas indicate the locations of large frames or arrays of multiple frames at a variety depths. The blue dots indicate the locations of individual poles located just below the low water line. Be aware that the indicated locations are only approximate.

For questions or exact locations of the instruments please do not hesitate to approach us. We are often present at the white container located at the Sand Motor tip or driving a green Landrover Defender and/or a blue quad bike.
