Lijkt met Lewis toch niet zo goed te gaan dat het zo lang stil blijft rond hem:

As a side: Just wanted to add Red Bull Events that it would be good for you to issue an official statement, it has been 4 days! The whole community is worried and understand initial media freeze, but it has been long enough for you all to issue a statement. I know Red Bull you will be taking the rescue efforts under review for the ?#?redbull? ?#?kingoftheair? and revise to improve the efficiency and processes in such extreme conditions! With those massive waves a jet ski should have been on stand by in the water, especially with those massive gusts coming through as well. It would have reduced rescue time significantly...
Here are the times logged from the the few images I took from when Lew crashed, to the image when he reached the rescue boat with extraordinary help from Reno his fellow kitersurfer, to the time CPR began... (was logging time so we could report accurately to the hospital)
Crash: 14:52:03 Reno gets to Lewis: 14:52:35 (32 seconds later) Reno travels fast and gets to Rescue boat (that is still near the shore): 14:52:43 (8 seconds) Rescue boat get Lewis on Stretch in water: 14:53:21 (38 seconds) Recsue boat get Lewis to beach to continue CPR: 14:53:53 (32 seconds)
In summary it took too long!! Why did the rescue boat take so long to go out, why was there no jet ski...?
A Massive well done to the Paramedics on sight for their amazing work in reviving and stabilising Lewis enough to get him to the hospital!"

Press statement van North Kiteboarding International over Lewis Crathern:
" On Sunday 7th 2016, North Kiteboarding Team Rider Lewis Crathern was involved in a Kiteboarding incident during his heat at the Red Bull King Of The Air event in Big Bay, Cape Town.
Since then, Lewis has been receiving treatment in the ICU unit and remains in an induced coma with the projection to start the process of waking imminently.
Lewis has not suffered any breaks or damages to his internal organs, and doctors are taking precautionary measures to ensure that Lewis receives the best care and recovery possible.
Lewis' parents Sandra and Gary, his girlfriend Courtney, along with his close friends are very grateful for all the love and support that the international kiteboarding community are showing, and we wish him a speedy recovery. Get well soon Lewis! "
Pffft, als ik naar de beelden van de finale kijk zie ik wat dangle passes van Aaron op max 8 a 9m (wat echt wel knap is maar geen big air en het ziet er daarnaast niet uit) en 1 boost van 16m, geen loops, geen kiteloop kgb. Kevin had echter dikke loops, huge airs en variatie, die uitslag slaat idd nergens op.
Ruben had ooit toch een S-loop gepoogd, maar staakte de poging na dat ie er achter kwam dat je na je eerste loop zoveel voorwaartse momentum had, dat je kite in de 2de bedrijf niet genoeg druk meer genereerde, waardoor je kite als het ware drukloos met de wind mee drifte? Dat had hij toch, kunnen/moeten weten?

Uitslag: €€€€€ Er is geen goede onderbouwing voor de beoordeling. Dan kom ik uit op "matchfixing". Gebeurt ook bij andere sporten. Zolang er geen adequaat toezicht is, is het aanwezige publiek de enige judge.
Ik dacht ook dat het Kevin zou worden. Maar de jury ziet veel meer dan wat ik voorgeschoteld krijg door de regie. Geven ze wel eens een motivatie voor hun waarderingen?

Die uitleg komt over als een...soort van goedmaakpraatje. Ze weten achteraf dat ze fout zitten, maar hier en daar proberen ze hun keuze recht te breiden.

Aan de andere kant: Het publiek heeft wel alles gezien en kwam tot een ander oordeel, krijg ik de indruk.
Kota is juist een publieksevent, en for very good reasons. De World Tour is voor de supersnelle handlepasses in alle variaties die nauwelijks waarneembaar zijn voor het ongetrainde oog, en veel minder een publieksevent.
Het is dan wel heel arrogant om te schrijven:
the judges should be praised rather than criticised for (...) blocking out all the hysteria on the beach
Hallohee! Hysteria on the beach! Dat was juist wat we wilden, een event dat aantrekkelijk is voor het publiek. Daar past die geweldige onefooter juist heel goed in.
Ik stel voor om het volgende kite-event zo te noemen, Hysteria on the Beach.
