Last fall in Northern Brazil, Alvaro, who was unhappy with the performance of his old sponsor’s kites, borrowed a Best Yarga from Joseph Carnerio and instantly fell in love.

Alvaro Onieva is one of the emerging stars on the kiteboarding circuit with his unique attention grabbing style and ability to throw technical tricks both ways. Alvaro started kiting at the age of 13 and his progression has been nothing short of amazing. Alvaro became the 2002 European kiteboarding champion at the age of 15 after only two short years of kiting. This natural progression transferred to the 2004 PKRA tour in which at the age of 17 he finished 7th at years end. Alvaro is exciting to watch due to his unmatched creativity, youthful exuberance and natural ability.
