Double Bias Carbon
• Double Bias has about half of its fibers laid at 45 degrees to the length of the cloth (+45 degrees) and the other half of its fibers at right angles to the first lot, and they are thus also at 45 degrees (-45 degrees) to the length of the roll • Double Bias Carbon is used in Sugar Skull boards to give precise flex control. • This allows for insane pop, control and smooth ride.
Uni-Directional Carbon
• Unidirectional has most of its fibers running in one direction, usually along the long axis of the cloth. (0 degrees or Warp uniaxial to the purist). When embedded in the resin matrix, uniaxial has most of its strength in the direction of the glass fibers. Often used for center boards and rudders, with the fibers along the length of the board. • Unidirectional Carbon gives strength and stiffness to the boards. • We do not replace components of the board with carbon to simply drop weight. Every layer of carbon and glass has a very specific purpose.
NOMEX Honeycomb
• The honeycomb structure is the strongest structure known to man. • It would make scenes that Sugar Skull would incorporate Nomex honeycomb in our cores. • This is an engineering feat for Sugar Skull yet again putting our boards on top. The honeycomb structure adds tremendous strength while cutting weight significantly, just as it does in the most sophisticated fighter jets of our time.
Triaxial Laminate
• Triaxial laminate gives Sugar Skull incredible strength. • You will enjoy how this material gives you a very snappy but very strong feel.
Paulownia Timber
• Pualownia timber is know to be a high strength light weight wood. • This material is commonly found in very high-end touring skis among other performance driven extreme sports gear. • Currently Sugar Skull is the only company combining all of these materials to exceed the industry stand for board construction. • Each and every board is hand laid and inspected to delivery performance to the most demanding.
